On 9-13 September 2018 in Perth (Western Australia) The Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society is held the ANZFSS 24th International Symposium on the Forensic Sciences. The theme of the Symposium “Forensic Science Without Borders” was brought together experts from a range of science disciplines and jurisdictions. The Symposium was provided participants with an invaluable opportunity to share knowledge, develop ideas and network with colleagues from around the globe.

Five days of the Symposium included registration, welcome reception (9 September 2018), opening, plenary and concurrent sessions (10-12 September 2018), general meeting (12 September 2018), discussion panels and gala dinner (13 September 2018). All days of the Symposium organizers served morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for participants of sessions.

The Symposium was opened by Chair ANZFSS 2018 Organising Committee – Hadyn Green APM (10 September 2018). National President, Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society prof. Adrian Linacre, Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia Amanda Forrester SC, and Commissioner of Western Australia Police Force Chris Dawson APM were invited to opening session.
After opening session and lunch participants of the Symposium listened scientific reports during short plenary session and concurrent sessions. Plenary sessions included two presentations: 1) Professor of Forensic Pathology (International) of Monash University, Head of International Programmes, Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine – Stephen Cordner AM «Humanitarian Forensic Action» (Victoria, Australia); 2) Coordinator of DNA Unit, Forensics & Police Data Management Sub-Directorate, INTERPOL – Dr Susan Hitchin «100 Years of International Forensic Cooperation – How Far Have We Come?» (France).
Concurrent sessions during all days of the Symposium were united forensic sciences specialists by next directions: 1) biological criminalistics; 2) anthropology, archaeology and odontology; 3) wildlife & forensic taphonomy; 4) electronic & digital evidence; 5) firearms & tool marks; 6) document examination; 7) fires & explosions; 8) toxicology & pharmacology.
