International scientific-practical conference «Terrorism and criminal law measures against it»

On 16 May 2012 John Paul II Catholic University (Lublin, Poland) hosted International scientific-practical conference «Terrorism and criminal law measures against it». The conference was organized by the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin; Department of Criminal Law of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin; Law Student’s Academic Circle of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. The conference opened annual event “Lexalia” – the official days of the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

More than 50 participants from Poland and Ukraine took part at the conference. The Conference was opened by rev. Prof. Habil. Dr. Vieslav Bar, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. There are some conference opening speeches – Prof. Habil. Dr. Krzysztof Wiak (Chair of the Department of Criminal Law of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin), Prof. Habil. Dr. Valery Shepitko (Chair of Criminalistics Department of National University “Law academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise”), Łukasz Chebotar (Organising Coordinator, PhD Candidate in the Department of Criminal Law of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) and Katarzyna Herbuś (Head of the Law Student’s Academic Circle of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) and other.

The conference worked in two languages: Polish and English. On the conference were two session. The first session was chaired by Dr. Sławomir Hypś, the second session – Prof. Habil. Dr. Krzysztof Wiak.

The following scientific reports were made during the first session: “Criminal liability for committing terrorist act in Ukraine” by Dr. Michael Shepitko (Ukraine), “The legal definition of terrorism” by Prof. Habil. Dr. Krzysztof Wiak (Poland). The presentations were followed by coffee break.

The following presentation were made during the period: “The offense of a terrorist nature in Polish Criminal Law” by Dr. Sławomir Hypś, “The history of terrorism” by mgr. Marcin Nowak (Poland). After scientific reports was interesting discussion and lunch with possibility to have excursion in John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

Second session of conference had some more scientific reports and discussion. Presentations by the conference participants will publish in the collection of scientific articles.
