10 JUNE 2022, INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE «GENOCIDE OF UKRAINIANS: FROM THE PAST TO THE PRESENT»

On 10 June 2022 Essen (Germany) hosted the International scientific and practical conference «Genocide of Ukrainians: from the past to the present». Prof. Vasyl Marochko, prof. Valery Shepitko (president of the International Criminalists Congress), prof. Volodymyr Serhiychuk, prof. Dmytro Zlepko, prof. Petro Chernega, Semen Gluzman (head of the Association of Psychiatrists of Ukraine, dissident), prof. Volodymyr Vasylenko, prof. Gerhard Zimon, Bohdan Futei (Federal Judge, USA), Candidate of Historical Sciences, Olesya Stasyuk, Askold Lozinsky, Dr. Victoria Malko, prof. Roman Serbyn, Prof. Hanna Kapustyan, doctor of historical sciences, associate professor Svitlana Markova, Viktor Rud took part at the conference.

As a result of the speeches and discussions, were condemned the war crimes and the crime of genocide committed today in Ukraine by the occupying forces of the Russian Federation, and the following requests were addressed to the parliamentarians and the Government of the Feferal Republic of Germany:

1) To recognize the Holodomor of 1932–1933 committed by the communist totalitarian regime of the USSR as a genocide of the Ukrainian nation.

2) To promote joint Ukrainian-German scientific and cultural and artistic projects that will present the international community with reliable information and a cultural understanding of the genocidal and totalitarian practices of the communist regime and its successor – modern Russia.

3) To promote the dissemination of information about the Holodomor-genocide of 1932–1933 by publishing scientific works on this topic in German.

4) To recommend that educational institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany include information about the Holodomor crime of 1932–1933 in their study programs.

5) To activate the involvement of the diplomatic representation of Germany in Ukraine in the commemoration of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933, which takes place every year on the fourth Saturday of November, and to ensure access to Ukrainian historians to work in German archives.

Parliamentarians and heads of executive power of the Federal Republic of Germany were called upon:

1) urgently introduce an embargo on the purchase of Russian energy resources, since the funds obtained from trade with the countries of Western Europe enable the Russian authorities to continue the war against Ukraine;

2) consistently strengthen the sanctions regime against the aggressor state to prevent its further aggressive actions;

3) speed up the supply of the necessary weapons to Ukraine as much as possible, which will enable the Ukrainian troops to restore the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state;

4) to support international efforts aimed at bringing to justice state officials and military personnel of the Russian Federation guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, which constitute genocide on the territory of Ukraine, and to promote the dissemination of information about the crimes of the Putin regime.
